Transformation
Transformation at WKUM
W-K UM is committed to God’s transformational work in our individual and corporate life!
We want to align ourselves with God’s work in our world and seek ways to continually grow into a healthier church. The ideas for transformation came directly from the congregation, under the direction of the Transformation Development group, and with the use of a Transforming Church Index survey (Ford, Kevin G., Transforming Church: Bringing out the good to get to great. Tyndale House Publisher, 2007.)
We identified the church’s strengths and weaknesses, and then followed up with a series of focus group sessions to guide us in selecting the specific tasks to be tackled. The many participants in the transformation process are eager to engage in missional activities that attract and attach newcomers, and help them experience W-K UM as a welcoming and hospitable community for all.
Five TAG (Transformation Action Group) teams are now up and running, guided by the findings, and seeking to develop and implement specific action plans. Through the TD group, the TAG teams report regularly to the Church Council on their progress and coordinate efforts across the congregational life.
As we continue to work for a healthy church, we are thankful for the good that is already here, expressed in the words of Paul in his letter to the church at Corinth:
I always thank God for you because of his grace given you in Christ Jesus. For in him you have been enriched in every way—in all your speaking and in all your knowledge… you do not lack any spiritual gift as you eagerly wait for our Lord Jesus Christ to be revealed. He will keep you strong to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. God, who has called you into fellowship with his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, is faithful. 1 Corinthians 1
